Ratna and Satcheen Shakya: Sacred Art of Nepal
Exhibition and discussion with the Nepalese art collectors ǀ March 24th to April 23rd, 2017
Until the earthquakes of 2015, the father and son Shakya (Ratna and Satcheen), connoisseurs of Tibetan and Nepalese religious art, exhibited beautiful thangkas in the central of Kathmandu Durbar Square (near the Royal Palace) where they welcomed visitors with great kindness and passionate explanations on Buddhist art.
Because of the many difficulties that arose after the earthquake, the resumption of activities in Nepal is very slow. The Shakya family had to reorganise themselves, so this year, Ratna and Satcheen began to present their beautiful collection in Europe, where the public had the opportunity to admire it in Chamonix, Paris, Prague and Zurich.
It is now Fribourg who will have the chance to admire unique pieces patiently collected from Nepali and Tibetan artists over the past 40 years. Throughout the exhibition, Ratna and / or Satcheen welcome you to Maison d’Ammann, where they will be pleased to present these wonders of the Buddhist art, during visits, or conference evenings. Enjoy this very rare opportunity in Europe!
